Visit Our Favorite Local Eateries
We are happy to announce that we have no fewer than 5 locally owned restaurants within walking distance to your home. We always encourage our neighbors to get out with the pups or kids and take a stroll to one of these local eateries. Here’s our favorites:
Sheesh Mahal / 4621 N. May Ave., Oklahoma City / 405-778-8469
This Indian cuisine is widely considered to be the best in OKC. Don’t let the humble setting fool you, the updated interior and evolving menu is truly something that must be experienced. Our favorite local food writer, Greg Elwell of I Ate Oklahoma wrote an in-depth review of this restaurant here, so read that and then jaunt over to Sheesh for something delicious.
Ron’s Hamburgers & Chili / 4723 N May Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73112
Ron’s Hamburgers are pretty much an OKC staple, and they have a very unique flavor that is always a hit. Their business suffered a little during the construction in Mayfair Village, but their loyal followers were there in spite of the parking issues that have now been resolved. The food is delightful, and there is a down-home vibe to the space that is very comforting.
El Sombrero / 4900 N May Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73112
El Sombrero is a yummy little Tex-Mex restaurant that has something to please basically everyone, even the picky little-ones! They have a lot of variety and are happy to accommodate customizations. The services is always quick and attentive — it’s clear they have been doing this for a long time and have a great team taking care of everyone. They have breakfast, lunch and dinner and very affordable specials every day.
Ray’s Cafe / 2727 NW 50th St, Oklahoma City, OK 73112
Ray’s Cafe has to win for hands-down the most budget friendly diner around. The food is classic diner, but on Thursday nights they do a Persian special that is very popular. This is a true Mom & Pop cafe with peppy service, clean and bright booths, and an accessible menu for customers of all ages. Our kids love their pancakes, and though we do tend to bring the average age down a bit when we go, it’s always a pleasant experience.
E-Z Shop / 5050 N May Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73112
I know you’re thinking — BOY, they really wanted 5 locally owned spots on here, so they are grasping at straws with a gas station food recommendation. Well, maybe it’s a little bit true, HOWEVER, the E-Z shop is kind of an underground secret. The food here is a guilty pleasure. Certainly not for every day, but if it’s good enough for THE LOST OGLE, maybe you should try it!
